Thanks to a record $3 billion in our state's rainy-day fund and responsible state budget practices, Connecticut's consensus revenue estimates from state budget analysts predict a budget surplus of $70 million in Fiscal Year 2021.

It was great to join with Governor Lamont, State and local colleagues at a ceremonial bill signing for a school construction bill that includes Norwalk High School. 

Today's agenda included funding for a number of critically important capital projects relating to transportation, clean water, local town and city projects, as well as $5 million for the state's efforts toward mitigating the Covid-19 pandemic.

The allocations included in HB 5518 will provide relief to cities and towns that lost revenue as a result of the property tax exemption on manufacturing and machinery equipment.

"Last year, our community made our voices heard when voting to approve funds for the construction of E. O. Smith's new roof and solar panels, and I'm glad we were able to correct the problem and allow these clean, sustainable solar panels to be installed on our higher school.," said Rep. Haddad.
