Governor Ned Lamont presented his biennial budget proposal yesterday and as legislators our job now is to analyze it, meet with state, local officials – and especially the people of New Haven – to discuss the governor’s ideas and ultimately decide what changes have to be made so the final budget draft truly meets the state’s needs.

The budget presentation is one of the most anticipated events at the State Capitol and Governor Lamont unveiled his Biennial Budget Address during the General Assembly Joint Session.

For the second time in just over six months, the General Assembly has approved a bipartisan state budget.

For the second time in just over six months, I have joined with my legislative colleagues in support of a bipartisan state budget. The agreement came at the end of our 2018 General Assembly session – and prior to the start of the fiscal year beginning July 1.

Under the bipartisan state budget compromise, further municipal aid cuts are prevents, funding to the Medicare Savings Program is fully restored, and $12 million to the Husky A healthcare program is restored.
