House OKs Minimum Pay Increase Bill

Hourly minimum-pay employees are moving closer to a living wage. The House has approved House Bill 5004 to increase the minimum wage incrementally to $15 in 2023. The last time the minimum was increased was in 2017 and our families need to have a chance. No one who works full-time should have to live in poverty.

Greener days for energy production are on the horizon for Connecticut with House Bill 7156 authorizing the procurement of energy derived from offshore wind that passed the House of Representatives with a strong bipartisan vote of 134 to 10.

I am proud to announce that last week the House passed HB 5004, An Act Increasing the Fair Minimum Wage. Under this bill, the minimum wage will increase to $11 an hour in October 2019, $12 an hour in 2020, $13 an hour in 2021, $14 an hour in 2022, and $15 an hour in 2023.

The House of Representatives gave its approval today, to a renewable energy measure expected to position the state as a leader in green technology. The legislation, HB 7156, An Act Concerning The Procurement Of Energy Derived From Offshore Wind, would authorize the procurement of energy derived from offshore wind and ultimately transform the state’s net zero carbon energy portfolio into a new maritime industry.
