Help for "Disconnected and At-Risk" Youth
October 16, 2023A recent report commissioned by the Connecticut-based Dalio Education found more than 63,000 young adults were "disconnected," and 56,000 students were "at risk" between 2021 and 2022.
This identified group of disconnected and at-risk youth include young people who have either dropped out of school or are in danger of dropping out of school, and those aged 18-26 who are unemployed and in many cases unemployable.
Health and Wellness Fair Rescheduled to September 30
September 6, 2023Attention Middletown residents - the Health and Wellness Fair has been rescheduled to Saturday, September 30 from 10 AM to 1 PM. It will still be held on the South Green of Union Park in Middletown. The fair will feature free massages, resources from various organizations, and more! Children's Urgent Crisis Centers Open
August 23, 2023Four new Children's Urgent Crisis Centers recently opened throughout the state to help better address the mental health needs of children and teens.
Created by legislation passed last year, the centers function as walk-in clinics for youths and their families experiencing a behavioral health crisis, such as thoughts of suicide or self-injury; feelings of depression, anxiety, or hopelessness.
Expanded Assistance for New Homeowners
July 6, 2023Great news for first-time homeowners! An additional $20 million has been added to the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority's (CHFA) Time To Own Program. Funding for the program - which offers down payment assistance to low- and moderate-income homebuyers in Connecticut - now stands at $80 million, with over $21.5 million currently available for loan reservations.
Bonding for Middletown
June 30, 2023I am pleased to announce the Northern Middlesex YMCA in Middletown will receive $2 million in state bonding. This funding will help support renovations and equipment for youth-serving areas.

Connecticut is a Leader on Tax Relief
June 21, 2023My colleagues and I delivered on our promise to lower taxes for those who need the most help. According to a report from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, Connecticut is a leader on tax relief for low- and middle-income earners. While other states cut taxes for the wealthy and corporations, Connecticut stands out for providing nearly $500 million in relief for individuals and families.
