Insurers claim this proposed hike is a result of the rising costs of healthcare and pharmaceuticals, but it comes at a time when we are already facing the highest inflation rates in 40 years. The Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) is utilizing numerous options to assist families across the state access baby formula during the nationwide shortage.

The formula shortage started last fall due to supply chain issues resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. It was exacerbated in February when Abbott recalled powdered formula manufactured in its Michigan plant and temporarily shuttered it.

Gas Tax Savings and More for CT Residents

Today, the House of Representatives passed an emergency bill, which will ease some of the financial crush on Connecticut residents and working families whose wallets and budgets have taken a hit due to rising gas prices and record-breaking inflation levels.
 
In an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote, we suspended the 25-cent-per-gallon gas tax April 1 through June 30 in addition to offering free bus rides through June 30 and another sales tax holiday on clothing and shoes under $100 during the week of April 10.
