July 24, 2026I fully support Gov. Ned Lamont’s proposal to provide $300 grocery store cards to approximately 25,000 Connecticut residents who have lost federal SNAP benefits due to recent federal policy changes. While this is not a complete solution to the growing hunger crisis, it is an important step to help families, seniors, veterans, young adults aging out of foster care, and survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking who are struggling to put food on the table.

July 8, 2026The Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS) announced that SNAP recipients who experienced long-duration power outages caused by the severe storm that impacted Connecticut on the evening of Saturday, July 4, may be eligible to receive supplemental benefits to replace spoiled food that had already been purchased.

June 30, 2026Since its inception, America has struggled with its ideals versus its realities. We need only briefly examine phrases such as "...all men are created equal" in the Declaration of Independence alongside slavery being codified in our Constitution to understand there is a gap between the idea of America and what America actually is.
