New Law Brings Birth Centers to Connecticut
July 31, 2023A new law giving expecting mothers more access to high-quality maternal health services closer to home will take effect January 1, 2024. I had the honor of attending the bill signing for Public Act 23-147, An Act Protecting Maternal Health, which will license free-standing birth centers and allow them to operate in Connecticut.

Minimum Wage in Connecticut Increases to $15 an Hour
May 30, 2023Connecticut’s minimum wage is set to increase from the current $14 per hour to $15 per hour starting this Thursday, June 1. In 2019, my colleagues and I passed legislation that would gradually raise the minimum wage over five years. Providing livable wages to the lowest earning workers is a step in the right direction to help them make ends meet and provide for their families.
House Passes Comprehensive Update to Gun Violence Statutes
May 26, 2023As you know, I have been a champion for common sense gun responsibility laws for decades. Last week there came the reports of an active shooter in my neighborhood. I'd like to give a big shout out to the first responders not only from Danbury’s Police Department, but also those from our neighboring towns. They apprehended the shooter, and he was put in custody.
House Passes Resolution Approving Constitutional Amendment to Allow No-Excuse Absentee Voting
