Connecticut's annual Sales Tax-Free Week begins on Sunday, August 18 and runs through Saturday, August 24. It provides a chance to save money, whether it is taking the kids back-to-school shopping or treating yourself or your loved ones.

I am honored to share that I made the Connecticut Education Association's honor roll. Every year, the CEA releases a "Report Card" that evaluates legislators’ voting records, advocacy, and efforts to advance the organization's priorities over the two-year legislative cycle.

Several new laws that address many issues aimed at improving our great state became effective on July 1st.

Public Act 24-46 has been signed into law, effective October 1, 2024. This new legislation provides a property tax exemption for veterans with a service-connected permanent and total disability rating as determined by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. As a Navy veteran, I was proud to cosponsor this important bill, which passed unanimously in both chambers of the General Assembly.

Cooling centers, pools, and splash parks will be open as we approach the start of our first extreme hot weather protocol. It will be a brutally hot and humid stretch of weather from Tuesday through the rest of the week, and we all want to ensure that our most vulnerable are protected. The protocol begins Tuesday at 12 P.M. and will remain in effect through Sunday at 12 P.M.
