The Energy & Technology Committee had a public hearing on March 7 and one of the people who testified on HB 5361 (Raised) "An Act Concerning the Siting of Renewable Energy Sources in the State" was East Windsor First Selectman Jason Bowsza. Thank you, Jason, for sharing with the committee what it's like to live with a saturation of solar arrays.

At the March 5 Commerce Committee public hearing, one of the bills we heard was SB 249 (RAISED) "An Act Concerning the Early Childhood Business Incubator Program." I had some questions about the program for Office of Early Childhood Commissioner Beth Bye.

I am thrilled to share exciting news about my commitment to promoting the health and well-being of our community’s families and children. In response to the vital need for improved childhood nutrition, we are working on crafting comprehensive legislation that ensures mothers and children who are eligible for federal benefits are enrolled in these programs with ease and confidence.

At a February 27 Energy and Technology public hearing, I asked Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Katie Dykes about limited capacities to expand solar opportunities for municipal interests.

We approved $17 million in additional funds for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and Operation Fuel – two important programs that many residents and families rely on for cold weather heating assistance.

There will be a virtual public hearing on Tuesday, February 27 with the Connecticut Siting Council on Docket #519 - Cellco Partnership (d/b/a Verizon Wireless) for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need for construction, maintenance, and operation of a telecommunications facility at 11 Chamberlain Road in East Windsor.
