Foster Named Chair of the Committee on Veterans' & Military Affairs
December 6, 2024STATE REPRESENTATIVE JAIME FOSTER NAMED
CHAIR OF THE COMMITTEE ON VETERANS’ AND MILITARY AFFAIRS
Foster will serve as chair for the 2025-2026 legislative term
“I am asking a lot of Rep. Foster, but she is a proven leader,” Speaker Ritter said. “Policies impacting Connecticut heroes are debated every day in the Veterans Committee.”
“Representative Foster’s professional background as a research scientist will serve her well as House Chair of the Veterans Committee. Rep. Foster is a registered dietitian with a doctorate in Nutritional Sciences who trained at the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity and is an expert in hunger and food insecurity,” Majority Leader Rojas said. “Connecticut has made significant strides in addressing the needs of veterans, but we know that more can be done to address homelessness, access to healthcare services and food insecurity. Foster’s deep understanding of these issues best positions her to serve in this critical leadership role.”
“I want to thank Speaker Ritter and Majority Leader Rojas for entrusting me with this chairmanship. I look forward to working in a bipartisan manner - and with veterans - to create legislation that gives Connecticut veterans the thanks they are due,” Rep. Foster said.
Rep. Foster was elected to her third term in the Connecticut General Assembly in November 2024, representing the 57th House District.
