CT DEEP Seeks Comments on CT Siting Council Report

Pursuant to Public Act 24-144 (Section 12), the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (CT DEEP) is required to conduct a study on the CT Siting Council and submit a report to the CT General Assembly by December 31.

DEEP is holding a Hybrid Public Meeting on December 5 to provide an overview of the DRAFT CSC Report and receive oral comments from the public. To register for the Zoom meeting, click HERE

The CT Siting Council is an independent, quasi-judicial state agency with the exclusive regulatory jurisdiction over the construction, maintenance, and operation of:

  • Electric transmission lines (of 69 kilovolts or more).
  • Electric generating or storage facilities (using any fuel and with a capacity of more than 1 megawatt).
  • Electric substations and switchyards (of 69 kilovolts or more).
  • Fuel transmission lines (with a design capability of more than 200 pounds per square inch gauge pressure or a design capacity of more than 20% of its minimum yield strength).
  • Antenna television towers and telecommunications towers in the state.
