On Wednesday, the House reconvened at the Capitol for a special session to address several critical issues impacting residents across the state of Connecticut. 

Thousands of Connecticut families who rely on SNAP may not receive their November benefits due to the Washington, D.C., gridlock — leaving hundreds of thousands at risk of going hungry.

Early voting has started and ends Sunday, Nov. 2.

Early voting for the upcoming municipal election will start has started today and ends Sunday, Nov. 2. Hours are daily (Sunday through Saturday) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., except on Tuesday, Oct. 28 and Thursday, Oct. 30, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

I first want to express my deepest sympathies to everyone affected by the tragic death of Jacqueline Torres Garcia, the girl whose remains were discovered behind an abandoned home in New Britain.

The growing issue of homelessness in Connecticut is extremely important to me and my legislative colleagues.

I would have preferred a deal that avoided a federal government shutdown. But the issue at stake is far too important to ignore. Without action from President Trump and Republicans in Congress, thousands of Connecticut residents — and millions across the country — will see their health insurance premiums rise dramatically.
