Programs that provide services to kids and youths to give them options and keep them off the streets and out of trouble are indispensable for Bridgeport and other cities. I am living proof of the importance of these programs. During the budget debate there were conversations minimizing the importance of these programs and calling it “wasted money.” Here are my comments in response to that sentiment.

Act Streamlining The Liquor Control Act

I am very proud of legislation that passed with overwhelming support in both the House and Senate regarding Connecticut’s rapidly growing craft beer, wine and cider industries. In just a few short years these industries have grown from a few hundred jobs to several thousand and generate millions for the state economy. Bridgeport is home to excellent craft breweries such as Brewport and Aspetuck Brew Labs in Bridgeport so this legislation will help them continue to grow.

Foreclosure Mediation Program

May 23, 2019

The Foreclosure Mediation Program was near and dear to my Brother Ezequiel Santiago’s heart and has saved a great number of homes as families have been able to work with the courts to avoid the painful experience of foreclosure. It is only fitting that we renamed the program after him and I look forward to the Senate approving, and the governor signing, this important piece of legislation.
