As we ring in the new year, there are some laws that become effective on January 1 that were passed during the 2023 legislative session addressing key issue areas including early voting, health and mental health, and online privacy and data protection.

Connecticut is offering a wonderful new program that will make applying for higher education much easier - and less expensive - for graduating high school students.

In about one week, I will wrap up my first year as a state representative. In February, we start our "short" legislative session, which runs from February to May. I look forward to continuing to serve as Branford and Guilford's voice at the Capitol. It has been my honor so far.

I hope this message finds you well and you're enjoying this beautiful time of year along the Connecticut Shoreline. While summer is over and the cooler months are ahead of us, I hope you can take time to enjoy the beauty and activities of the Fall season. There is so much to be enjoyed.

THE SHORELINE - State Senators Christine Cohen, Norm Needleman and Martha Marx and a host of regional state representatives today called on Amtrak to provide alternative solutions to the Shore Line East service cuts that have been caused by the rail work needed for the Amtrak Fitter Interlocking Project.  

I hope you have been enjoying your summer and taking time for the simple pleasures of sunny days along the shoreline. While there are plenty of warm, summer days left, many of you likely have school on your mind as we gear up for another academic year here in Connecticut.

I hope this message finds you well and enjoying the summer months along the shoreline. While we've definitely had our share of unpredictable weather, we are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful place with so many opportunities to enjoy nature, community and all that Connecticut has to offer.

It has been just over a week since we wrapped up what has been my first legislative session as a state representative here in Connecticut. I intentionally took some time to reflect on all that I have learned, experienced and shared in this new role & what it has meant to me. The strongest and most consistent sentiment I feel is gratitude. I am grateful for all of those who have mentored me, befriended me or guided me within the legislature. I am forever thankful to my constituents, neighbors and family who have trusted me to be their voice in Hartford, always serving as my “true north” through each and every vote. Never have I worked in such an incredibly diverse, enriching and supportive environment. I am a better person and legislator because of the vast experiences each person brings and shares in this chamber.
