Facing a $1.5B deficit and an upcoming budget expected to be laden with additional cuts to services and jobs, I joined lawmakers and advocates today to introduce Proposed Bill 6973. This bill would close the “carried interest” tax loophole and would generate more than $520M.

Beginning October 1st, individuals who have been notified that they are subject to a court-ordered temporary restraining order will no longer be able to possess firearms or ammunition during the days leading up to their hearing.

HB 5623, a bill that protects victims of domestic violence by prohibiting possession of firearms by anyone who becomes subject to a temporary restraining order upon notice of being served, was approved in Judiciary Committee today.

Although bill HB 5204,which would have established a halfway house in New Haven for female ex-offenders, failed to move forward for consideration to the Judiciary Committee, I will continue to seek the facility's establishment to help those released from the Department of Corrections transition into the community.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy and the Department of Housing (DOH) Commission today announced that about $9 million in state bonding is being awarded to Hamden Specialty Housing for affordable housing projects at 415 Mather Street in Hamden.
