Official recognition of Black History Month started with a proclamation from President Gerald Ford 47 years ago, to honor the many accomplishments and contributions Black Americans have made to American society. It's a time to rejoice, reflect, and remember. Black history is American history.

Extreme cold weather is expected in the coming days across the state. It is important to be mindful that with it brings increased risks to ourselves and our communities.

Happy New Year to you and your family! As the year ends I want to take a moment to reflect on the past year and be thankful for the support of the community near and far. Cheers to another great year, as I wish much happiness, health and wealth to you all.

All town offices, including the East Hartford transfer station, will be closed Monday, December 26, 2022 in observance of Christmas Day. All town offices will reopen on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 for regularly scheduled hours of operation.

Great news! CareerConneCT is expanding its intake portal. The goal of CareerConneCT is to provide underemployed and unemployed Connecticut residents with resources and training necessary for the pursuit of a well-paying, high-quality career path. The program provides free job training, case management, supportive services, and employment assistance.

The East Hartford Commission on Culture & Fine Arts presents pianist Paul Bisaccia and “Home for the Holidays in East Hartford!”, on Saturday, December 3 at two o’clock in the afternoon at First Church, 837 Main Street, as part of the Town’s Holiday Fest. The performance is free; we ask that you bring a non-perishable food item for the Food Bank. You can also buy a $2.00 Holiday Fest Button to support the Food Bank.

To help brighten the holiday season for children in our community, the Town of East Hartford is conducting a community toy drive. Donations will be used to help our Social Services Division and Police Department fulfill toys for kid’s programs for East Hartford residents.
