May is Mental Health Month. The common statistic that 1 in 4 people are coping with mental health is probably an understatement during COVID-19. Over the past 6 weeks, everyone has had their lives altered and we are all learning to cope in new ways.

There are few people that are on the front lines right now, like our next Community Hero award winner, Janet Woxland. As an RN and administrator at Branford Hills Health Care Center, she is in the trenches fighting against the virus spreading through our most vulnerable populations.

Kerry and Lexi Mascaro are being recognized as Community Heroes by Sarah Lockery. They are a mother daughter team who are stepping up to help others during this pandemic - together they created an opportunity for others to join them in a very simple and easy way.

Amid the Covid-19 pandemic and daily information on cases and outcomes, we are finally seeing some steady progress towards re-opening.

The Department of Labor has released unemployment assistance guidance for gig workers and the self-employed.
