Kicking off the 2026 Legislative Session

On Wednesday, we officially gaveled in the opening day of the 2026 Legislative Session. It is a privilege to return to Hartford to represent our corner of the state. Following the opening ceremonies, we heard the Governor’s State of the State Address. Several local leaders from Northeastern Connecticut joined us in Hartford for opening day.

Upcoming Legislative Events in the Quiet Corner

The Connecticut General Assembly is set to start the 2026 Legislative Session next Wednesday, February 4th. As we prepare for another session, I want to hear directly from you about the issues and priorities that matter most in our community and ensure you are aware of what is going on in the legislature and how you can get involved. Your input is essential in helping guide our work at the Capitol, and I value community discussions as an important part of my work. In February, I will be holding two events in the Quiet Corner to connect with residents about their concerns and questions, and connect residents with the resources to stay updated.

Big news for Northeastern Connecticut!

November 13, 2025

Last night, the State House of Representatives passed HB 8001, beginning the process for Day Kimball Health to join the UConn Health System, along with Waterbury Hospital and Bristol Hospital. This important legislation also authorizes state bonding funds to support much-needed capital improvements across these facilities.

Join Me for a Highway Dedication Ceremony for Trooper Nelson on October 27th

October 21, 2025

I would like to invite you all to join me, State Senator Mae Flexer, State Comptroller Sean Scanlon, Town of Pomfret officials, and the Connecticut State Police for a Highway Dedication Ceremony in honor of State Trooper Irving H. Nelson. The Highway Dedication Ceremony will take place on Monday, October 27th, at 4:30 p.m. at the Pomfret Volunteer Fire Department. A section along Route 97 in Pomfret will be dedicated to Trooper Nelson of New Haven, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty in Pomfret on April 6th, 1928.

Good News for the Quiet Corner: Eastford Fire Company and Day Kimball Hospital
