We have a great deal to look forward to in the upcoming days with Thanksgiving celebrations, being together with loved ones, and Small Business Saturday just around the corner on November 25. The latter is a great opportunity to support our local entrepreneurs, artisans, and small businesses that make our community unique and vibrant.

The Veterans & Military Affairs Committee is hosting an informational hearing on Wednesday, November 8, at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford, Room 2C, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. 

During this period, individuals can enroll for the first time, renew their coverage, and explore the various policy options to see which will be the most beneficial. 

Great news! The Housing Advisory Panel, of which I am an appointed member, voted on Friday to approve one-time grant funding awards as part of the Interest on Real Estate Brokers Trust Account (IOREBTA) Program, which includes $55,000 for local non-profits.

The two-day clinic provides FREE dental care to the underserved and uninsured in Connecticut; those who would otherwise go without this care.

On October 4, FEMA & the FCC will run a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System around 2:20 p.m. Your cell phones, TVs, and radios will be included in this test.

The Children's Committee informational hearing date has been changed to October 11, 1 p.m., in Room 2E, of the Legislative Office Building.

A number of new laws are set to take effect on Sunday, October 1.
