April 8, 2016This week, I attended a press conference to promote awareness of the Safe Haven law, which states that a distressed birth parent who is unable to care for their infant, 30 days or younger, may leave him or her with an employee at any hospital.

April 4, 2016I'm glad I was able to join my fellow legislators, Sen. Cathy Osten and Rep. Emmett Riley, at Backus Hospital to highlight Connecticut's Safe Havens Law. Through this event we hoped to bring attention to this life-saving law.

Grasso Center Closing Worries Parents
March 27, 2016The Ella T. Grasso Regional Center, regarded as one of the most ideal homes for the severely developmentally disabled when it opened in 1982, is scheduled to close in June. “Certainly the handwriting was on the wall,” Rep. Joe Gresko said. "They haven’t been taking in any new clients for some time.”
New 800 Helpline for opioid addiction services

Callers will be linked to walk-in assessment centers 24/7. Callers also will get a follow-up call by trained staff to determine if they were able to connect to necessary services.
Free Family Concert Saturday!
March 2, 2016NHSO is holding a free performance of Peter and the Wolf, the final concert in their Family Concert Series. They are encouraging children to come in their favorite PJs, slippers and stuffed animals to a “musical pajama party.”
