The House took action approving a resolution that would include a ballot question to amend the State Constitution to allow for an in-person early voting system. Once the resolution gets final legislative approval, the question will appear on the November 2020 ballot for voters to decide if Connecticut should implement it.

A huge congratulations for our community member, Coalition United to Reach Equity (CURE). They won the grand prize of $250,000 in the small-sized city or county category for Healthiest Cities and Counties.

A bill, championed by the Bridgeport legislative delegation, that would permit and implement an open and competitive Request for Proposal process for private or tribal entities to bid for a qualification to develop, manage and operate a casino gaming facility in Connecticut passed the state House of Representatives.

The Bridgeport House delegation applauded the state House of Representatives' passage of a bill that would increase citizen participation in Neighborhood Revitalization Zone committees.

April is "Sexual Assault Awareness Month." Several bills that support victims and prevent sexual violence have been voted out of committee and sent to the floor for debate and consideration.

The city is slated to receive $3.1 million in supplemental car tax reimbursement money after the Bridgeport legislative delegation fought to secure the release of the funds from the state Office of Policy and Management.

The Bridgeport state legislative delegation delivered testimony in support of House Bill 5305 which would create an open, competitive bidding process for new casino expansion in Connecticut.
