Dear Neighbor,
This week, we honor the memory of those we lost on 9/11 and salute the courage of the heroes who risked everything. Of the nearly 3,000 people killed in the September 11 attacks, 161 had ties to Connecticut. Their loved ones are in our hearts during this difficult time. May we always remember their sacrifice and stand united in resilience and hope.

The Connecticut Oral Health Initiative is conducting a series of forums this fall to collect feedback about the HUSKY dental system.

Participants will be compensated with a $50 gift card, catered food, and free oral health supplies!

There will be an upcoming forum in New Haven Wednesday, Sept. 18 from 5:30-7:30pm at the Ives Main Public Library Performaing Arts Space (133 Elm St.).

Please see the fliers below for more information. I hope you'll check it out!

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is launching Round 2 of its eBike voucher program on Tuesday, September 17 at noon. This round will remain open until Tuesday, October 1. As you know, DEEP’s eBike Incentive Program provides point-of-sale (POS) incentives to Connecticut residents who purchase a new qualifying eBike from a participating "brick and mortar" retailer in the state. The eBike incentive, which must be applied for online and obtained before purchasing an eligible eBike, is intended to provide additional electrified transportation options and improve air quality, especially within environmental justice and disadvantaged communities.

There are two voucher amounts: the Standard Voucher is $500 and the enhanced “Voucher+” is $750. The vouchers are "stackable" so income-qualified Connecticut residents and residents in EJ or disadvantaged communities will be eligible for a $1,250 incentive.

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month! Since 1987, Library Card Sign-Up Month has been held in September to mark the beginning of the school year. During the month, there is a national effort to put a library card in the hands of every school child in the country.

Having a library card opens up a world of opportunity! Cardholders don't just have access to reading materials, that magic card can connect you to online databases and resources.

Sign up for a library card on your next visit to the library or check to see if you can apply for a card online! Once you have a hometown library card, you can use it at all the fantastic libraries in our state!

Sincerely,

Juan Candelaria
State Representative
