This month, there will be a number of celebratory events. I have shared the information below, and I hope to see you there!
 
This weekend, Bloomfield and Windsor will host a Juneteenth Celebration of Freedom. The weekend of events will include a parade on Saturday, June 18 at 11AM, a community cookout on Sunday, June 19 at 6PM, along with numerous other activities.

Juneteenth Events
Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. Originating in Galveston, Texas in 1865, it is the oldest known commemoration of the end of slavery in our country, and its significance cannot be overstated. This session, I voted to make Juneteenth a legal holiday. PA 22-128 celebrates how far we’ve come and acknowledges how far we still have to go.

The Institute for Cross-Cultural Awareness and Transformative Education, in partnership with the CCSU African American Studies Program, will host a hybrid symposium on Tuesday, June 21st, from 9AM - 2PM. The "Teaching African American/Black Studies Resources to Inform and Inspire" event will feature scholars, community leaders, and educators.
