Many factors contribute to childbirth inequities, including variations in quality healthcare and underlying chronic conditions, with systemic and structural racism having the most direct impact and influence.

    New Food Assistance Oct. 1

    The Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS) will implement new eligibility benefit levels in the state’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) beginning October 1, 2022, which will result in an estimated 44,000 additional Connecticut residents in 17,600 households becoming eligible for the food assistance program.

    Reps Berger-Girvalo, Gucker & Sen. Haskell Secure Funding Two Ridgefield Elementary School Playgrounds

    Earlier this year, the town of Ridgefield surveyed our elementary schools' playgrounds for their accessibility through the Institute of Human Centered Design. The study revealed that Barlow Mountain Elementary School and Ridgebury Elementary School are the schools that require immediate upgrades and will require new construction to bring the playground into full ADA compliance.
