It was an extraordinary honor to make history and unveil the new sign renaming a local school after a prominent Hispanic American for the first time in Waterbury.

The largest multi-cultural festival in New England featured 110 countries that marched, danced, played music, or cooked up some delicious meals in our city last Saturday. Organizers estimate that we hit a new attendance record as more than 15,000 people took part and enjoyed the festivities.

Connecticut will receive federal funding to help with the recovery from historic flooding and subsequent damage. The state is urging every driver to slow down and move over if they see a vehicle stopped on the side of the road. It's the law!

We're celebrating culture this Hispanic Heritage Month in addition to honoring generations of resilience, creativity, and impact. Let’s uplift, honor, and keep making history together as our Hispanic and Latino American populations continue to grow in Waterbury and the rest of the state.

The state is proudly showcasing our Puerto Rican pride and heritage. Waterbury hosted its first Puerto Rican parade in nearly 25 years. Our vibrant and passionate Puerto Rican community was brimming with pride as we marched on our city streets.

Nearly 200 residents are scrambling to find, relocate, and transition to new living arrangements after learning Abbott Terrace Health Center is closing. Employees at the facility are also looking for new work.

The state has set up an entire webpage dedicated to assisting flood victims. I joined UConn students on a small business walking tour where we learned they will receive a 15% when they shop there.

A new apartment complex just opened in Waterbury with affordable and market rate housing on Linden Street in the Hillside neighborhood.
