Today marks the effective date for a number of bills that passed in the 2026 legislative session.

Stratford is receiving $250,000 through the Connecticut Department of Education's LEAP program. This grant is an investment in the state's research-based approach to improving student attendance and engagement.

While higher energy prices are raising concerns about keeping our homes warm this winter, there is help for families who will struggle with their heating bills.

I'm happy to share that the Community Investment Fund (CIF) approved $1.5 million for the Fletcher African American History Museum's relocation to the Sterling Homestead. The funding - should it be approved by the State Bond Commission - will help finish rehabilitation efforts at the Sterling Homestead and assist in the relocation process.

On September 13, 160 local veterans were presented with CT Wartime Service Medals in Stratford.

The U-Pass CT program launched in Fall 2017 and provides free public transportation to eligible students enrolled at participating UConn campuses and Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) schools. The cost is included in student fees, so students only need their U-Pass CT and valid student ID when boarding participating services.

This weekend, parts of the state experienced significant rainfall, resulting in flooding and damage to roadways, businesses, and homes.  DESPP’s Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS) is working with local officials to assess next steps. 

Effective as of 10:03 a.m., Aquarion Water Company is repairing a main break on Columbus Avenue. It's anticipated to take between 6 and 8 hours to repair.
