CTDOT is Developing Plans for Project to Improve Intersection Operations and Safety
August 3, 2026The Connecticut Department of Transportation’s (CTDOT) Office of Engineering is developing plans for Project 0173-0561, which will include installing video detection, replacing controllers and cabinets, and installing communication equipment to integrate the signals into ATMS-now software and to implement Automated Traffic Signal Performance Measures (ATSPMs) in the future to improve intersection operations and safety in District 3.
The current schedule indicates that the design plans will be completed in May 2027, with a tentative advertising date for construction in July 2027. Construction is anticipated to start in the spring of 2028, assuming acceptance of the project, availability of funding, and receipt of any required right-of-way and environmental permits.
This project will be undertaken with 100% federal and 0% state funds.
