Today marked an important next step in work we’ve been doing to address concerns around emerging construction methods, life safety, and local oversight.

Alongside Insurance & Real Estate Committee Chair Kerry Wood and Housing Committee Chair Antonio Felipe, I convened the first meeting of our Emerging Construction Methods & Life Safety Working Group, bringing together Department of Administrative Services, local building officials, fire marshals, and insurance experts.

Following recent tragedies on Route 7, many residents have asked about previous studies, planning efforts, and current safety initiatives. To help answer those questions, I've compiled publicly available reports and resources related to the Route 7 corridor.

One week ago, I joined CTDOT, WestCOG, local officials, and my legislative colleagues to discuss safety concerns on Route 7 following the recent tragic crash.

Yesterday, our community came together to honor Emily Todd’s life and celebrate the next chapter in domestic violence accountability in Connecticut. It was a day filled with emotion, reflection, and hope.

Like so many in our community, I continue to grieve the heartbreaking loss of Danbury resident and my constituent, Officer Cooper Whiteside, and Brittany Islami. My thoughts remain with their families, loved ones, fellow officers, firefighters, and everyone affected by this unimaginable tragedy.

This week, I was proud to stand with Governor Ned Lamont, Representative Tammy Nuccio, Chair Kerry Wood, advocates, physicians, and families as our bipartisan fertility coverage bill was signed into law.

Great news for Bethel! Governor Lamont announced that the Town of Bethel has been awarded $846,400 through the Community Connectivity Grant Program for Downtown Main Street pedestrian safety and connectivity improvements.
