Reps. Gresko & Shake Distribute Food at CT Foodshare Event
November 12, 2025The Connecticut Foodshare's monthly distribution at Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Stratford took place on Monday, November 10. State Representatives Kaitlyn Shake and Joe Gresko joined the Stratford Health Department, Medical Reserve Corps, Stratford YMCA Volunteers, and additional resident volunteers to help Connecticut Foodshare provide food and resources to the Stratford community.
Volunteers spent the morning assisting Connecticut Foodshare by handing out food to residents in the area. Throughout the morning, approximately 138 residents were served, providing those households with access to food. The Stratford Health Department was also on-site to administer the flu vaccine. They provided over 15 residents with a flu shot to protect them against the virus this season.
"We are beyond grateful for Connecticut Foodshare's efforts to make food accessible to residents in Stratford, especially following the confusion about SNAP benefits. Many residents in our community rely on food assistance programs, and thanks to the dedicated volunteers, we were able to provide residents in need with food," said Representative Joe Gresko. "I have volunteered at this food distribution since before COVID, and I am thankful for the continued efforts from community organizations and members during times of need to ensure residents here in Stratford are supported and have access to food."
“Food insecurity is a reality for many of our residents here in Stratford. I was proud to work alongside a passionate and committed group of dedicated volunteers, including local community organizations, to provide residents here in Stratford with direct access to food. At a time when the federal government is unable to provide for families, we will continue to be there for the Stratford community and provide residents with the resources they need," said Representative Kaitlyn Shake. "I want to thank the Connecticut Foodshare for assisting and supporting residents in Stratford and across the state.
