Advancing Renewable Diesel in Connecticut

August 30, 2024

Connecticut has taken a big step forward in its commitment to cleaner energy with the introduction of renewable diesel at the East Haven terminal, supplied by Global Partners. This renewable diesel, made from fats, oils, and waste products, offers the same performance as traditional petroleum diesel but with 78% lower emissions.

At a recent Capitol news briefing in East Haven, I was joined by local officials to discuss how renewable diesel is critical to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, particularly in the transportation sector.

This initiative not only supports Connecticut’s air quality goals but also strengthens our state’s energy independence. As we continue to advance in sustainability, keep an eye out for updates on our efforts to integrate renewable diesel into more sectors and further reduce emissions statewide.
