New High School Announcement

December 10, 2019

I was delighted to join with colleagues, school and local officials to announce plans for a new Norwalk High School that will be 80% funded by the state of Connecticut.

In addition to the thousand-student population of Norwalk High School, the campus will also support P-TECH Norwalk, formerly referred to as the Norwalk Early College Academy, while expanding its enrollment from 400 to 500 students. The 500-student Norwalk Visual and Performing Arts Academy will also be included in the new campus.

Key things to note for this incredible new facility:

  • 80% of the funding will come from our State’s School Construction Grants, compared to the normal 33%, saving local taxpayers.
  • Expands the P-Tech Middle College, to prepare our students for 21st century jobs
  • Creates a state of the arts Visual and performing arts Academy
  • Home to 2,000 students, to be in line with current enrollment projections.

Education is the foundation of strong communities and I am proud to stand with all the partners like Senate Majority Leader, Bob Duff, Mayor Harry Rilling, Rep. ChrisPerone, Rep. Travis Simms Jr., Dr. Adamowski, The Norwalk Common Counsel and the Norwalk BoE that made this possible.
