2020 Major Issues Report

January 17, 2020

The non-partisan Office of Legislative Research (OLR) identifies issues based on research requests, studies, and public conversations with legislators and executive branch agencies.

Here are some of the issues that I am most focused on:

  • Addressing rising healthcare cost by creating a state reinsurance program and a prescription drug importation program,

  • Transportation infrastructure investment,

  • Looking at measures that will provide relief to senior citizens, including property tax,

  • Environmental issues including modernizing and enhancing the bottle bill and eliminate the use of pollutants, like PFAS and Chlorpyrifos,

  • Automatic voter registration,

  • Banning flavored nicotine products, and

  • Expansion of Birth to Three programs.
