Reappointment as House Chair of Public Safety & Security Committee
November 22, 2024Speaker of the House Matt Ritter and House Majority Leader Jason Rojas reappointed me as the House Chair of the Public Safety and Security Committee.
I am honored and committed to ensuring, in a bipartisan manner, that our communities remain safe, resilient, and supported. In this next session, we will continue to prioritize legislation that strengthens our emergency services, enhances public safety infrastructure, and addresses the critical needs of first responders.
“Pat’s experience as a first responder and his work in local emergency management provide him keen insight into public safety policy,” Speaker Ritter said. “Pat’s leadership is inclusive. He wants to hear from committee members, first responders, agencies and the public.”
“Rep. Boyd has made a name for himself in the volunteer fire profession, which is a vital service for Connecticut's municipalities of all sizes. He has taken the time to become familiar with public safety issues from all over the state, and his dedication to the work, along with his vast emergency management experience and volunteer firefighting experience in Pomfret, makes him an ideal candidate to serve as chair of Public Safety and Security,” Majority Leader Rojas said.
The Public Safety and Security Committee has cognizance of all matters relating to the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, civil preparedness, homeland security, the state police, municipal police and fire training, and more.
