Dear Neighbor,

It was another busy week at the Capitol as committee meetings and public hearings are wrapping up. My colleagues and I are working hard on legislation we hope to pass this session while having critical conversations about issues impacting residents across the state. As our legislative session continues and we continue to have conversations about which bills will be passed, I want to hear from community members like you.

This week, I will be holding two Legislative Updates in the Quiet Corner. On Tuesday, the 25th, join Senator Jeff Gordon and me at the Eastford Town Hall from 5:30 to 7:00 pm and on Wednesday, the 26th, join both of us and Representative Kurt Vail at the Woodstock Town Hall from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. Our discussion will focus on energy, affordability, public health, and any concerns you may have. We look forward to connecting with community members and discussing priorities for this legislative session. We encourage all members of the community to attend these events!

Thank you to the more than 50 people who attended the Legislative Update that Senator Jeff Gordon and I hosted earlier in the month at the Hampton Town Hall. We discussed a wide range of issues facing residents and appreciated hearing perspectives directly from constituents. It helps us do our jobs effectively as legislators and advocates.

Mark your Calendars - Upcoming Legislative Updates:

  • Tuesday March 25th, Eastford Town Hall, 5:30-7:00 pm
  • Wednesday March 26th, Woodstock Town Hall, 5:30 - 7:00 pm
  • April 5th, Ashford, more information to come!
  • Pomfret, Brooklyn, and Mansfield - Later this spring, more information to come!

March 14th - 16th was the Connecticut Department of Agriculture's Maple Sugar Weekend across the state! I had the chance to visit several Sugar Houses this season, including this one in Ashford!

As the House Chairman of the Public Safety and Security Committee, we finished the first phase of its work this week, passing 42 bills out of committee in a bipartisan manner, which I am very proud of and rare in the current political climate. Here is a moment of levity between the Ranking Republican Member and me about "Pomfret" during the meeting to discuss which bills we moved forward.
