Coal Tar Ban Bill Passes the House

April 5, 2017

I am pleased to announce that HB 5884, which would prohibit the use of coal tar sealants on state and local highways, has passed the House!

The bill, which Rep. Boyd has championed, passed the House in a 135-9 vote.

“I am proud that this bill has passed the House as limiting exposure to this hazardous material will help protect the environment and the public health of residents in my district and all of Connecticut,” Rep. Boyd said. “I’m glad my colleagues have recognized the importance of this bill and I will continue to fight for its passage as it makes its way to the senate.”

The bill will now be heard before the Senate.

Watch me speak in favor of this bill on the House floor below:
