I am very pleased to report that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the State of Connecticut was awarded a total of $30,770,000 in Clean Water and Drinking Water grants to finance community-based water infrastructure projects, such as upgrades to municipal sewage plants and public drinking water systems.

I’m honored be appointed Chair of the CT Pension Sustainability Commission and am confident that this commission will prove valuable to the state and its citizens.

As Chair of the Public Health Committee and member of the Energy and Technology Committee of the General Assembly, I am happy to support initiatives that advance the goals of Connecticut Green and Healthy Homes to improve health outcomes and energy efficiency through evidence-based housing interventions.

For the second time in just over six months, I have joined with my legislative colleagues in support of a bipartisan state budget. The agreement came at the end of our 2018 General Assembly session – and prior to the start of the fiscal year beginning July 1.

Today, in the early morning hours, I found myself in the middle of the most wrenching situation I've had in my eight years in the Legislature. The end result was important: the landmark energy bill passed the House and will be sent to the Governor for signing. But the path to passage was tortuous, splitting the energy and environmental cause community and leaving the outcome very much in doubt.

I am so proud the House passed legislation that will protect children in mortal danger. Extreme food allergies are a growing threat, affecting millions of children and adults nationwide.

I am proud of my support for sensible gun reform legislation, such as the ban on bump stocks which passed the House yesterday.

I stood with workers from the solar power industry in support of fixes to Senate Bill 9 to assure continuing our successful net metering program which is the cornerstone of our expansion of renewable energy.
