First, I want to wish everyone a happy and safe Fourth of July weekend. The Fourth falls on a Friday this year, which is convenient, to say the least.

Due to an anticipated stretch of high temperatures, the state is activating its Extreme Hot Weather Protocol, effective at noon on Sunday, June 22. The protocol will remain in effect through at least 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25.

Another legislative session is in the books. After long days and debates on the House floor, we passed numerous measures that will benefit residents in the 21st district and across the state, from protecting workers to crafting a responsible state budget.

As of today, we only have two weeks left until the end of session. Each day, we continue to debate legislation and some bills have passed the House and are headed to the Senate for passage.

The session is picking up, as we are staying later most days and getting more legislation passed each day. You’ll see a lot of that work listed below in individual sections, but I am also including a section on all the bills passed this year for you to check out.

The Connecticut Department of Labor officially launched its new e-Apprenticeship Program, proving a streamlined, digital solution to the Registered Apprenticeship Training Program, which is already utilized by many Connecticut state agencies.

Last week, the House voted in favor of HB 5004: An Act Concerning the Protection of the Environment and the Development of Renewable Energy Sources and Associated Job Sectors.

Great news on Batterson Park, which has been closed since 2015.
