Yesterday, I moderated a very productive and encouraging meeting focused on road safety along the Route 7 corridor shared by Ridgefield and Danbury.

I have formally requested an immediate joint meeting among the municipal leadership of Ridgefield and Danbury, personnel from the Western Connecticut Council of Governments (WestCOG), the Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Transportation (ConnDOT), and all relevant Department of Transportation staff to address urgent safety concerns along Route 7.

Small businesses are the backbone of Connecticut's economy. They create jobs, strengthen our communities, and bring new ideas and opportunities to every corner of our state.

As our nation approaches its 250th anniversary, we should be preparing to celebrate the enduring promise of American democracy — yet, this moment feels complicated.

I strongly oppose Eversource’s proposal to increase electric bills for Connecticut residents by approximately $25 per month. At a time when working families, seniors, and small businesses are already being squeezed from every direction, asking them to pay even more for electricity is simply wrong.

The days (and nights) are long, but the session is short. We're in the home stretch of the session, and we have taken up numerous pieces of legislation, including the budget, transportation, gun violence reduction, no-excuse absentee ballots, and vaccines, among other things. 

We are about to enter the busiest stretch of the legislative session, with just three weeks remaining before adjournment on May 6.
