The 2025 Legislative Session has begun! We were all sworn in on Wednesday. I just wanted to take a moment to say that it is an honor and privilege to serve the residents of Middletown. I also want to affirm my commitment of serving you, and all the residents of the 100th District to the best of my ability.

I want to wish you a Happy New Year! I look forward to serving you and the residents of Connecticut during the 2025 legislative session, which begins on January 8th. And with that, I want to point out several new laws passed during the 2024 session that will go into effect on Wednesday, January 1.

I hope you're doing well and preparing for some quality time with your family and friends this holiday season! I wanted to share a couple of updates with you, including the news that thousands of Connecticut residents are in line to have some, or all, of their medical debt erased.

I wanted to share some good news with you.

I have been appointed Vice Chair of the Public Health Committee for the 2025 legislative session, which begins on January 8th. I am humbled and honored. I want to thank the CT House Democrat leadership for its commitment and faith in me. I do not take this appointment lightly. I am committed to serving the people of Connecticut in this role to the best of my ability.

Starting January 1, Connecticut college students will be able to benefit from a bill we passed to alleviate student loan debt. The reimbursement program, led by House Democrats and the first of its kind in the nation, provides up to $5,000/year for up to four years (up to $20,000) in loan forgiveness. Six million dollars has been allocated in the current budget cycle and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Thanks to sound fiscal policies, Connecticut has made significant progress in strengthening its pension funds for retired state workers and addressing legacy debt.

Access Health CT's (AHCT) Open Enrollment period for health insurance began this month and runs through January 15, 2025.

Connecticut residents can shop, compare, and enroll in health insurance plans or renew their coverage online, in-person or by phone. Dental insurance is also available through AHCT.

Election Day is one week away! In addition to being able to cast your ballot on November 5, CT residents will have the option to vote early through through Saturday, November 3. The polling locations will be open from 8 AM- 8 PM.
