A State Budget That Delivers for Families
May 6, 2022After months of negotiation and input from residents across our district, I am happy to pass along great news. On Monday, the House of Representatives passed the state budget proposal which provides $600 million in historic tax relief to meet this moment of need for so many residents in our district. It also makes vital investments in our municipalities, nonprofits, child care providers, and more.
Fighting Breast and Ovarian Cancers
April 19, 2022Last Wednesday, I stood beside my legislative colleagues and advocates to support the passage of two legislative proposals that would expand access to testing and diagnostics for breast, ovarian, and cervical cancers. SB 358 would offer health insurance coverage for early detection and diagnosis of breast and ovarian cancers.
Sales Tax Free Week is Underway
April 12, 2022To put money back into Connecticut residents' pockets, we recently passed legislation to suspend our state's gas tax and offer free bus service through June 30. The bill also created an additional Sales Tax Free Week, which will end on Saturday, April 16. Enhancing Mental Health Services for Children and Families
February 25, 2022The mental health and well-being of our community's youth and families has been a leading priority of mine. While we saw a rise in depression, anxiety, self-harm, and other forms of distress in young people prior to the pandemic, the increased isolation and uncertainty that has come from the past two years has exacerbated this issue. HB 5001 was developed as a bipartisan and collaborative effort to provide additional support, resources and structural change to the children's mental health system in Connecticut.
February is Black History Month
February 4, 2022We celebrate the achievements, accomplishments and contributions Black Americans have made to this country, of which there are many, each February during National Black History Month.
