Tuesday was a special day for us, in particular, the capacity crowd in the Old Judiciary Room where five World War II veterans from our state received Legion Of Honor medals from Madame Counsel General of the French Consulate of New York Anne-Claire Legendre.

Our state continues to lead in protecting the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, and recently took several more steps to address the unique challenges LGBTQ+ people may face, particularly youth.

Please join me at the Stamford State Delegation Town Hall Tuesday, 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 20 Forest St., Stamford.

We are bracing ourselves for what is sure to be an uneasy time for many of our immigrant friends in a matter of hours with raids expected via U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement or ICE beginning Sunday.

I considered myself fortunate in presenting a well-deserved citation to Leroy Jordan, a Pacific House Shelter social worker who has done an exemplary job working with the homeless as a PHS social worker the past 17 years, serving the most vulnerable among us in Stamford, Norwalk and Greenwich.

Please join State Representative David Michel at the picket line Saturday from 1p.m.-5 p.m. in support of the Stamford and South End communities as well as the Connecticut labor forces against the way the development was handled in the South End.

Along with the heat a number of new laws went into effect July 1, including benefits for first responders who have been determined to have post-traumatic stress disorder after experiencing a traumatic event while on the job.

As gun violence throughout our nation and local communities increases, protecting the safety of our residents and children has become more and more important.
