August 12, 2026I hope you and your family are having a relaxing and safe summer. As we head into August and it is time to start thinking about back-to-school, I wanted to share information on the annual Connecticut Sales Tax Free Week and the new sales tax elimination on school supplies.
The 2026 Connecticut Sales Tax Free Week will take place from Sunday, August 16th, through Saturday, August 22nd.

August 3, 2026Primary elections will take place on Tuesday, August 11, in municipalities where more than one candidate from the same political party has qualified for a particular office.
Registration Now Open for Connecticut’s New Paraeducator Preparation Academy

This week, Governor Lamont and Education Commissioner Charlene M. Russell-Tucker announced a new six-week program to provide aspiring paraeducators with exam preparation, mentorship, and a pathway into Connecticut’s special education workforce.
Mary Cheney Library Closing August 8th

The last day the Mary Cheney Library Building will be open is Saturday, August 8th, 2026. Beginning Monday, August 10th, the building will be closed while materials are being moved to the new library building. The Grand Opening for the new Main Library will take place on Monday, September 14th at 10 am.
