Join United Way as a VITA Volunteer

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is a free tax preparation program for individuals and families earning up to $69,000 annually. Volunteers helped provide more than $28 million in refunds and credits last year.

Join United Way this tax season as a VITA Volunteer and help families in the area with their tax credits and returns. Recruitment for volunteers is happening now through January 2026. Various training programs and certification for volunteers will take place between November 2025 and January 2026. No prior experience is needed to volunteer.

$25 Million for Crumbling Foundation Assistance

August 5, 2025

I am thrilled to share some good news for Manchester! In the State Bond Commission's meeting on August 1st, they approved $25 million in funding for the Crumbling Foundations Assistance Fund. This funding will be used by the Connecticut Foundation Solutions Indemnity Company, INC. (CFSIC) to repair crumbling concrete foundations in Manchester and surrounding towns.

Important Victory for Seniors and People with Disabilities

When I found out seniors and people with disabilities were going to lose transportation services in our area due to a federally funded grant ending - I took action and introduced HB 5479, which I got 16 of my colleagues to co-sponsor. This work ultimately led to $2.4 million being allocated in the budget to ensure Encompass would be saved.
