Updated Food Insecurity Numbers In CT, A Good Bill, HB5197, Reading At Roaring Brook
May 15, 2024We may be out of session, but we are still at work!
Today, I had the pleasure of reading to one of the third-grade classes at Roaring Brook School in Avon. As you can imagine, not only were they adorable, but the students also had great and often complicated questions. What a fun way to spend the morning!
Sine Die!
May 10, 2024The end of session was a whirlwind of bills, emotions, and last-minute negotiations. We passed some really good bills. We saw some other great bills die on the Senate calendar (maybe a few on the House calendar, also). We fought. We compromised. We did our best to put the people of Connecticut first. And, I hope the majority of us did it because we believe in democracy, in public service, and in leading with love.

May 1, 2024I'm committed to the health and well-being of our community’s families and children by joining my colleagues in the House of Representatives to pass HB5003, AN ACT CONCERNING CHILD AND FAMILY NUTRITION unanimously.
We Are #AvonStrong, Climate, Coffee, And Conversation In Canton Saturday
April 24, 2024This week, we were in session yesterday and today and will be in session tomorrow. Today, the House passed the Paid Sick Leave bill that has been worked on and compromised over for the last few years. Workers will have to earn their sick days based on how long they work for their employer. More details to come, but I wanted to make sure to mention it.
Helping Those Impacted By Fire At Avon Place Apartments
April 22, 2024As you may have heard, there was a terrible fire in Avon Place last night (apartment complex near the Reggio Magnet School). Thankfully, because of the quick actions of the Avon Volunteer Fire Department, none of the residents were hurt. Unfortunately, at least one firefighter was injured in the line of duty and I wish them a speedy recovery at the same time I am grateful for their heroism.
CGA Kickball Classic Success, Black Maternal Health, HB5169 And HB5279 Move On
April 17, 2024I’m thrilled we were back in session today and we will be again tomorrow. It’s the time of the year when we finally arrive at the floor debate portion for the bills that have made it out of committee and, now, the larger bodies of the House and Senate can speak for or against the legislation before voting. In other words, we are staying busy!
CGA Kickball Classic Monday, Put Birdfeeders Away, Grant Funding Headed To Canton
April 10, 2024I hope you enjoyed the magic and the wonder of the eclipse on Monday whether you were in your own backyard or at a local watch party. While we may not have been in the path of totality, we certainly saw quite an astronomical show.
