The 2024 legislative session has officially begun! It was wonderful to reconnect with friends and colleagues in the House Chamber. We were joined by many local guests including Stonington First Selectman Danielle Chesebrough and the leadership of the Mystic Aquarium.

On Monday, I met with the Southeastern Connecticut Council of Governments to discuss their legislative priorities. As a member of the Environment Committee, I look forward to collaborating with our municipal leaders to tackle our solid waste crisis, especially developing a plan to divert organic materials from our waste stream to composting facilities.

We're closing in on the start of the 2024 legislative session on February 7th. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your kind responses regarding the weekly newsletter. The goal is to keep them informative, resourceful, and community-centric.

This week's newsletter is full and includes more information on the town hall and some of the major issues we will likely be addressing during the session.

I intend to provide you with as many updates and information pertinent to you and your family as much as I can as it creeps along.

In our first newsletter of the new year, we take a look at tax relief measures that began on January 1 that stand to benefit a lot of CT taxpayers. Also included is a reminder about the new laws that took effect in our state on January 1 and a plan to expand access to affordable, high-speed internet, devices, and training

I want to wish you and your family a very safe and prosperous 2024! I also want to thank you all for your support throughout 2023. The next legislative session starts on February 7th. I look forward to serving you and addressing issues that affect our community.

It's been an honor and a privilege to represent our beautiful coastal corner of Southeastern Connecticut – Groton, Mystic, and Stonington at our State Capitol. These towns have seen numerous successful initiatives and projects this year, and I'm excited to continue working hard for you in the year ahead.
