State Representative Turco Gets His Committee Assignments

January 9, 2019

It is uncommon for an incoming freshman representative to be appointed to those key leadership positions in the House of Representatives; the influential assignments usually are given to legislators with seniority.

“Representative Turco brings a great deal of experience and knowledge of government and the legislative process to the General Assembly. His commitment to his community will not only benefit his Newington constituents but also residents throughout the state,” Aresimowicz said.

As the representative for the 27th District in Newington, Turco also will be a member of the legislature’s Children and Insurance and Real Estate committees.

I am honored by Speaker Aresimowicz’s decision to appoint me to these positions. Increasing Newington’s economic vitality and the growth of small business across the state is a top priority, and I can’t wait to begin work in the legislature. I want to devote my work to helping improve the quality of life for all.

I want to create more economic opportunities and higher paying job in the region, increase the affordability and access to higher education and workforce training opportunities and reduce the cost of living for our families and seniors.

Turco has been a member of the Newington Economic Development Commission and the Plan and Zoning Commission.

In his private life, he has managed the business development of digital technology start-ups, worked for a non-profit university and was a policy analyst in state legislature. He most recently spent time as an early childhood education teacher in Uganda, Africa.

He has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Sacred Heart University and a master’s degree in communication from Central Connecticut State University.
