High Score On Environmental Issues In 2019 Session

November 20, 2019

I’m proud to champion policies that will ensure clean water, clean air and open space for our neighbors in Newington and residents across Connecticut. The League of Conservation Voters is a vital organization in our state and I look forward to working alongside them next year to ensure that Connecticut does its part to combat climate change, encourage recycling, and keep our children safe from pesticides.

The CTLCV’s criteria focused on 22 pieces of legislation introduced in the spring, including the following landmark measures which I supported:

HB 7156 Offshore Wind Development – This renewable energy reform authorized the procurement of 2,000 megawatts of offshore wind energy, clearing the way for Connecticut to become a leader in the field.

HJ 171 State Water Plan - The resolution enshrined water as a public trust resource and established a framework from which the state can work to best manage this responsibility.

SB 753 Fracking Waste Ban – This measure expanded the state’s current fracking ban to cover all gas and oil operations.

The full list of bills that were considered by the CTLCV in their grading process can be accessed alongside legislator scores on their website.
