Elderly Tax Relief Program Open In February

February 5, 2019

Beginning in February, elderly taxpayers may apply for tax relief by filing an application with the Town Assessor.

To make it more convenient, applications are available and may also be processed at the Senior Center. In order to be eligible for this program, an applicant must have been 65 years old as of December 31, 2018, own and occupy their home, and meet certain income guidelines.

This year’s maximum incomes are no more than $36,000 for a single individual and no more than $43,900 for a married couple.  Income is described as all taxable income per your adjust gross income from your federal tax return plus Social Security.

More information can be found at the Elderly Tax Relief Program page, the Totally Disabled Tax Relief Program page. A summary of benefits can be found on the Exempt Summary page.
