October 27, 2017

From the press release:

The Connecticut Water Works Association (CWWA) is an association of municipal, private and regional water utilities that promotes state policies that assure reliable, high quality water supplies to protect the public health and safety.

As Co-Chair of the legislature’s Public Health Committee, Rep. Steinberg plays a key role on many issues affecting drinking water, including drought response, water security, and water utility operations.

In presenting the award, CWWA Legislative Tri-Chair Lori Vitagliano, Regional Water Authority, said, “Recognizing how vital Connecticut’s water resources are to residents and businesses, Rep. Steinberg has been a staunch advocate of efforts to develop a comprehensive state water plan that meets the state’s public health, safety, environmental and economic development needs.”

“A balanced state water plan will position Connecticut as a leader in water resources protection and management,” said Maureen Westbrook, Connecticut Water Company and CWWA Legislative Tri-Chair. “Ensuring that the plan is truly balanced is vital to ensuring that Connecticut has sufficient drinking water supplies to meet the needs of residents and businesses in Connecticut, now and in the future.

“His ability to work with various stakeholders and legislators on both sides of the aisle to protect the state’s water resources is much appreciated. We applaud Rep. Steinberg’s efforts and are pleased to recognize his accomplishments with CWWA’s Legislator of the Year Award,” added Westbrook.
