Remembering Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Milford

January 16, 2026

On Monday, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and we reflect on our shared responsibility to carry his work forward. Dr. King championed investments in black and brown communities, the right to safe and affordable housing, access to quality education, and economic dignity for all. His vision continues to guide our efforts as we push for meaningful progress and lasting change.

As we commemorate his legacy, let us recommit ourselves to advancing equity, inclusion, and unity within our communities.

You are warmly invited to attend a community celebration honoring Dr. King's life and impact on Sunday, January 18 at 4 p.m. at Milford City Hall (110 River Street). The program will include prayer, music, and powerful reflections. Featured speakers include CT State Housatonic Campus President Kamari Collins and Connecticut Supreme Court Chief Justice Raheem Mullins. This event is free and open to the public.

A reception will follow immediately afterward at First Baptist Church (28 North Street). I hope you will join us for this meaningful day of remembrance and reflection.
